WFWP JOINS HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR

The WFWP table at the Health and Wellness Fair

For many years, Mrs. Barbara Wood has been organizing health fairs in Las Vegas as community outreach for Roseman University. When she shared her life story at our "Women as Peacemakers-Her Story" event, she mentioned her work organizing health fairs, and this inspired WFWP to co-sponsor the health fair this year. We also invited Wongu University of Oriental Medicine, and they also became a co-sponsor. Wongu University was founded by the late Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and is the state of Nevada's first college of Oriental medicine.

At the health fair, there were 23 booths offering guests different types of health assessment and treatment. Among the booths were an acupuncture treatment table from Wongu University, a glucose and blood pressure counseling table from Roseman University, a Complete Medical Consultants table, and a "superfoods" exhibit and table offering information and advice on healthy eating. Other booths exhibited essential oils, information from the American Lung Association, a chiropractic booth offering posture exams, and a Bhutanese crafts booth.

Last, but by no means least, WFWP had a table with a display board illustrating our international, national, and local activities.

Even though the event was held on a Saturday, as it was the last weekend before the new school year began, we didn't see as many guests as we had hoped. Luckily, there were enough to make the event worthwhile, and those who attended received much information and had a great experience.
