A HEALING HAND FOR HEALTH
On December 3, 2011, the WFWP Metro New York Chapter held a Women of Spirituality and Healing forum and fair called "A Healing Hand" at the International Gospel Helpers Church (IGHC) in the Harlem section of Manhattan. Organized by Rev. Juanita Pierre-Louis, this event became a family affair, with 10 participants, including men and children.
Rev. Pierre-Louis explained that the Creator did not create illness, and that proper nutrients and awareness can bless us with healthy physical and spiritual bodies. Maintaining our spiritual body and creating a healthy spiritual environment, she said, are important for overall health, as Corinthians 15:44 tells us: "It is sown a natural body it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body and there is a spiritual." Rev. Pierre-Louis covered breathing postures that release stress, since emotional care is essential for the healing of the whole self.
Ms. Crystal Floyd then demonstrated how to make the body a better place to live through deep breathing, prayer, and stretching. She explained the importance of beginning every day by drinking a glass of water to energize the spiritual and physical bodies. Ms. Floyd demonstrated rejuvenating hand massages that focus on the fingers and places on the hand that represent the stomach and back. Everyone paired off and massaged each another's hands and shoulders.

The participants sampled fruit beverages, a health-improving coffee, and another coffee that reduces fat content in the body. Brooklyn Chairwoman, Rae Beth Maye, shared, "We enjoyed healthy snacks and especially appreciated the cappuccino provided by Crystal. All in all, everyone had a good time and left happy." One guest named Nicole shared how much she enjoyed that kind of gathering and wanted to participate in the next one.
The Women of Spirituality and Healing believe that women, as mothers, wives, and healers, will not only nurture and heal their families, but can be the missing link that eventually will bring world peace.
