RIGHTING AMERICA’S COURSE

Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, continental director of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), asked Universal Peace Federation and Women's Federation for World Peace to co-sponsor an American Leadership Conference (ALC) event on July 19 in Chicago. The topic was, "God's Hope for America: Righting a Nation Back on Its Providential Course." The event was in the spirit of the "God's Hope for America" national bus tour that was to pass through Chicago the following weekend.

After Dr. Kim spoke about the role of America in bringing world peace, Mrs. Angelika Selle, WFWP USA president, spoke on "Righting a Nation Back on Its Providential Course." After explaining that there is something wrong with America at this time, she spoke of how Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon had come to America to wake up the "sleeping giant." She proceeded to explain how women have a key role as mothers, as the conscience of the nation, to both speak up and to comfort and heal the wounded world we live in based on "Living by the Logic of Love."

WFWP Midwest Chairwoman Mrs. Patricia Fliginger eloquently introduced WFWP USA. Minister Fannie Smith, national director of the Schools of Africa project, spoke passionately and showed photos of the work WFWP is doing to educate children in Africa who wouldn't have had the opportunity without the funding provided by nations around the world, especially the U.S. and Japan.

Mr. Ricardo De Sena, president of the Universal Peace Federation USA, brought energy and passion in his comments and a call to action.

After lunch, there were four roundtable discussions, each on a different topic, and the participants had an opportunity to contribute to the discussion and then go to a different table and topic and weigh in there.

Finally, Mr. Bruce Sutcher, UPF Chicago representative, handed out appointments for young people to become Ambassadors for Peace. He did an outstanding job of creating a warm and free atmosphere for all to express their hearts, and some their tears. It was a program for all to remember with fondness.
