On Thursday, February 2nd, the newly inaugurated non-profit organization, “My Daughter, Your Daughter,” hosted an event held at in Midtown Manhattan, to raise awareness of young girls that are being abused, forced into labor, and deprived of an education. Their mission statement is to “empower young women with the crown of glory they deserve;” so that women can stand up for themselves and become great leaders in the future. More than one hundred participants gathered, including the New York Chapter of WFWP. A mixed audience of women and men, younger and older, had a lively, uplifting, and informative time at a "Women's Empowerment Day and Fashion Show" sponsored by the Metro New York chapter of WFWP and the Filipino International Community of America, the latter led by President Joy Theriot. The March 23 Fashion Show was presented by WFWP young professionals Christina Kartel and Jara Lefe and was in honor of Women's History Month. WFWP NY had a Spa Sunday Program in the heart of New York City on January 26, 2014. Mrs. Juanita Pierre-Louis, WFWP USA vice president, was the main speaker and spoke on "The Motherhood Initiative." Then Mrs. Uyanga Love inspired and lifted the atmosphere as she shared WFWP Founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon's words on "Women Who Will Take the Leading Role in the Ideal World." The one-day event was a joint venture of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), the Unification Theological Seminary (UTS), and the WFWP New York City Chapter, celebrating and honoring Parents' Day 2013. Parents' Day is acknowledged in the U.S. as a national holiday, initiated by Father and Mother Moon in 1994. Clergy, women, and families were gathered to celebrate the occasion with inspirational speakers, musical performances, and the honoring of six exemplary parent couples.
