World Summit 2020: Celebrating the life and legacy of Rev. and Mrs. Moon
WFWP USA offers sincere congratulations to WFWP Co-Founders Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon for their 100th and 77th birthdays, respectively, and for their 60th wedding anniversary! These anniversaries were commemorated through grand celebrations on February 6th and 7th in South Korea, on the heels of the historic World Summit 2020 that brought together more than 5000 people from 170 nations.
Throughout their lives, Father and Mother Moon, as they are affectionately known, made tremendous sacrifices with the sole purpose of bringing God and peace to this world. There was no better way to acknowledge their efforts than to join together with those around the world in the name of peace for the World Summit 2020, hosted by the Universal Peace Federation.
WFWP USA was honored to contribute to the World Summit with a delegation of 20 women leaders from around the country who had attended various regional Global Women’s Peace Network launches in 2018 and 2019. WFWP International also assisted with the inaugural session of the International Association of First Ladies for Peace, co-hosted by the First Lady of Palau, Debbie Remengesau.
Three additional associations were launched during the World Summit — the International Association of Academicians for Peace (IAAP), the International Media Association for Peace (IMAP), and the International Association for Peace and Economic Development (IAED). Furthermore, World Summit 2020 included the Sunhak Peace Prize, which was awarded to President Macky Sall of Senegal and Bishop Munib A. Younan, the international honorary president of Religions for Peace. A special Founders’ Centenary Award was presented to former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
WFWP participants shared their deep and heartfelt impressions of everything they experienced during this time. They were especially impressed and moved by Mother Moon, not only for her genuine leadership, but also her heart and sacrifice.
Mrs. Audra Hajj, CEO and Founder of Phoenix Business Cycle, shared: "When I saw all religious leaders on the stage from different religions, shoulder to shoulder, I teared up and asked my husband: who can put this kind of conference together? Only Rev. Moon.”
“I feel the intense urgency in Mother Moon's heart. Although she is attending with us, giving us much love while attending these events and festivities, her mind is already on the next level, and looking into the future. There is so much to do for all of us. Every moment counts!” said Mrs. Astrid Fidelia, CEO and Founder of Stand Up to Poverty.
Each person who attended committed to work together with us toward One Global Family Under God!
