IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO SAVE A CHILD: HELPING SEXUAL TRAUMA VICTIMS IN ARIZONA

The Arizona Chapter of WFWP partnered with Nextdoor Neighborhood Community to collect lightly used purses filled with essential items including deodorant, toothbrushes, socks, and other daily necessities to donate to the StreetlightUSA Center in Phoenix.

StreetLightUSA is a residential center in Arizona specializing in the healing of child sex trafficking and sexual trauma victims from ages 11 to 17. The center had heard about the Women Helping Women Purse Project WFWP Arizona had initiated last year, and a volunteer called me to see if WFWP had any more purses to donate to their organization. Unfortunately, we were out of purses and essentials at that time; but, after hearing about the work they are doing at the center, I felt compelled to find a way to make a donation to their center.

I am a member of my neighborhood community organization called Nextdoor, and contacted most of the ladies in the group, to request their help. Within three weeks we had collected 35 purses with essential items to fill the bags. I realized how much Power women have if they have a clear Purpose.
