What could be better on a hot day than a cold glass of iced tea or lemonade?

While hundreds of young men and women gathered in upstate New York for the Blessed Culture and Sports Festival on August 12, we at WFWP thought it would be a great chance to raise money for our campaign to build a school in Nepal. The night before, Kiyomi Schmidt and I met up at my house to prep the ingredients for Thai tea with boba and fresh-squeezed strawberry lemonade. Though we hadn’t done anything like this before, it was exciting to figure out some delicious recipes which people would enjoy.

Early Saturday morning, we were set and ready to sell some yummy drinks for a good cause. Many of the athletes were happy to have a refreshing drink after competing and playing sports. Most gave an extra donation for the kids in Nepal and expressed interest in giving to a substantial project. We also met several young people who had visited Nepal to do service work, and they confirmed that the people of Nepal really are in need of our support. It was a great afternoon of sports, drinks, and conversations.

WFWP USA recently launched a campaign in order to help build a school in rural Sarlahi district in collaboration with WFWP Nepal, a place where the kids have a chance to learn in a loving and healthy environment. Thanks to some great sales at the festival and people’s generous donations, we were able to raise $648. If you would like to learn more about the school and the family who started it, please visit www.fundly.com/wfwplunis and donate.
