WARMEST GRATITUDE FROM NEPAL: UPDATE ON LUNIS KINDERWORLD PROJECT

“This can’t be possible! I must be dreaming.” That was my first thought one morning a few weeks ago when I was riding the train to work. I had just received a notice that our campaign for Lunis Kinderworld received a whopping $3,000 donation. I could hardly believe my eyes. There were many such experiences during the past few months of our Nepal campaign; the overwhelming support that poured in was quite inspiring.

That feeling of wonder, excitement, and a profound sense of gratitude has carried us at WFWP USA throughout this campaign. It all began as a desire to support a project which was brought to our attention by WFWP Nepal President, Blessie Gadon. This small school in rural Nepal shared with us their dream of creating a warm and loving environment for children where they could learn and grow to reach their full potential. Now, thanks to you, they can continue to do just that.

Two months later, the campaign ended on September 30th, and we are so grateful to announce that we raised over $18,000 which will go toward building a brand new school building for the children of Lunis Kinderworld. We had set an ambitious goal, while unsure if we could realistically reach it. However, thanks to all of our donor’s amazing and overwhelming support, Lunis is able to begin construction during this month of October. They will be able move out of the makeshift classrooms in the principal’s home into a proper school in time for the 2018 school year.

Many WFWP chapters throughout the country also supported by praying and by holding local fundraisers, in Colorado, Texas, Northern California, Chicago, Las Vegas, and elsewhere. Many went above and beyond. For example, the pastor of the Chicago Family Church—who collaborates frequently with our WFWP Chicago chapter—translated the story of Lunis Kinderworld into Japanese so he could send it to his Japanese congregants for whom English is a second language. Day after day, we were moved by support from so many individuals and communities. We also received several notes of encouragement and thanks which only spurred us on to reach higher.

Thank you, all, for helping us to make that one spark a reality.

Purushottam Karki, principal and founder of Lunis sent us the following note of thanks: “Warm greetings from Lunis Kinderworld. We are grateful for all the efforts that you made during this wonderful campaign. We don’t have enough words to express our happiness and gratitude for this campaign. May God bless all of you and your family.”

Blessie Gadon, President of WFWP Nepal, also expressed her gratitude: “First of all let me congratulate you and your team for making this dream a reality. The response from donors is really unbelievable: they gave their heart to donate for a good cause: building a school for young children. Thank you so much for your hard work. We are so happy that you exceeded expectations with the donations.”

Please stay tuned for further updates, especially when they start construction and complete the school. We will include photos and updates in future newsletters. If you didn’t have a chance to give yet, there’s still time! Go to fundly.com/wfwplunis. Thank you!
