With over 31 years of history in bringing together women to promote lasting peace, the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) believes that women have the incredible power to initiate healing and reconciliation where conflict and division exist. One way we demonstrate this is through our signature project, the Bridge of Peace. Participants meet a peer from a former enemy nation, a different faith, culture, religion or race, and commit themselves to bridge the gaps of heart between them, breaking the chains of hatred and resentment.
By coming together as women, acknowledging our unique femininity, and experiencing the Bridge of Peace, we can see that each of us has the power and responsibility to contribute to world peace, one relationship at a time. When we come together as women, as sisters, as mothers, as wives, determined to take action, we become a force of hearts and hands that cannot be ignored around the world.
The WFWP USA chapters of DC, Maryland and Virginia are proud to co-host a Bridge of Peace event on August 26th at the Washington Times building in DC. Join us and experience the transformative power of forgiveness for the past with hope and determination for the future. The program will include a general introduction to the Bridge of Peace project, a bridge crossing ceremony led by representative pairs and personal reflections on peacebuilding. Light refreshments will be provided. We welcome all to attend, both men and women, in this transformative reconciliation experience.
Saturday Aug. 26th, from 5-7 PM EST
Location: The Washington Times Building
