In commemoration of National Liberation Day of Korea, WFWP will bring together women leaders in a GWPN Forum to examine how the Korean Peninsula, once a symbol of division, could become a beacon of peace and reconciliation. The end of colonial rule on August 15, 1945, marked a new beginning for Korea, but the subsequent division between North and South has kept the region in a state of tension for decades. Achieving peace would transform the Korean Peninsula and serve as a catalyst for global change, showing how nations can transition from conflict to cooperation.

The quest for peace on the Korean Peninsula has been a lifelong dream for the co-founders of WFWP, both of whom were forced to flee North Korea during the country’s separation. Their vision extends beyond a personal desire to see their homeland reunited; they believe that a united Korea can be a global peace pioneer, sparking peace and unity worldwide.

This webinar will reflect on Korea's journey from liberation to its potential as a peace pioneer, highlighting its broader implications for global peace and unity.
