This month, we have a wonderful opportunity to listen and learn from Dr. Diane Hardgrave (Shinnecock), Professor of Medical Anthropology at the College of Southern Nevada and SFNP HerStory Awardee.
Dr. Hardgrave will begin with a prayer, followed by her presentation, Indigenous Anthropology: Decolonizing and Reclaiming. In this talk, she weaves together historical narratives and scientific discoveries, highlighting the work of Indigenous scholars in decolonizing history, advancing scientific research, and reclaiming native wisdom.
She will also explore the significance of Chaco Canyon, New Mexico (850–1250 CE), a site rich in history. The Pueblo ancestral homeland and a sacred place for many Indigenous peoples of the Southwest Nations, Chaco Canyon holds deep cultural and historical importance—an essential part of American history.
