Dr. Margo Lomax D.

A Fighter for Her Community… that’s the phrase that is most often associated with the name Margo Lomax Davidson. All of her life she has fought to advance the interests of vulnerable communities from her days as a broadcast journalist in her quest to provide true and accurate information to the listeners of black-owned and operated radio in the City of Philadelphia or later as the founder of two non-profit organizations. Margo also served her community in elected office for 11 years and completely shifted the political landscape in her suburban count through her own brand of service first, particularly to communities that had been un or underserved for decades.

Ordained as a minister in 1986, Margo Davidson was divinely inspired and consequently co-founded her first non-profit organization as part of her ministry to children whose parents were addicted to alcohol and other drugs and to the parents themselves. That organization, Anti-Drug &Alcohol Crusaders (ADAC), founded in 1989, is still thriving today and serves nearly 200 children and families annually in the heart of the City of Philadelphia. It was built to last and is now serving its second and third generation of urban youth in its “Safehouse” programming. After leaving ADAC in capable hands Margo worked for the Department of Public Health, Coordination Office of Drug & Alcohol Abuse Programs, CODAAP. Margo was pivotal in assisting the department in creating community Partnerships throughout the City of Philadelphia to create and sustain viable drug prevention and intervention programs. Margo also later led the city’s “Save Our City’s Kids” program that created greater awareness about the correlation

between drug and alcohol abuse and child abuse. Under Margo’s leadership, the program also achieved greater coordination of services among city agencies that addressed both child and substance abuse. Margo additionally ran a boutique public relations, non-profit management, and program development consultant agency, Davidson & Company for nearly 30 years beginning in the mid-1990s. Margo helped many non-profit organizations develop programs to address the needs of the community and to increase positive engagement with the communities that they served as she assisted these entities with board development, program development, strategic planning, grant proposal writing, and fundraising plans, to name a few services. She was featured in numerous local print radio and television programs as an expert on these topics. True to form, Margo tirelessly assisted individuals and organizations in the pursuit of their aspirations - focusing on people who had historically and consistently been denied access and opportunities through traditional vehicles. he US Small Business Administration for the great services it provided to women and girls.
