Joan Chanman-Forbes

Joan Chanman-Forbes is one of four children and was born in Trinidad and Tobago. She is the Honorary Consul for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Los Angeles, California; the Executive Director of OUR CHILDREN THE FUTURE INC; and holds a BS in Business Administration and MS in Executive Management from the University of La Verne, California. Ms. Chanman-Forbes is a longtime volunteer in her community and is very passionate about the work she has done and continues to do, both for her Trinidad and Tobago diaspora in Los Angeles, California and for the children in Trinidad and Tobago. While she worked for many years in the corporate sector with the RAND Corporation, she found another calling when she resigned to become an at home caregiver for her brother. This shift eventually led to the development of her own organization. Although she has no official accreditation in social work, after over nineteen years in caregiving and community service, her resilience speaks volumes.
