Karen Gaal
Sister Karen Gaal is a visionary leader and lifelong Washington, D.C. resident dedicated to public safety, social progress, and women’s empowerment. As Chairwoman and CEO of the Third District Metropolitan Police Department Citizens Advisory Council (3D CAC), she has transformed public safety by fostering collaboration among residents, law enforcement, and civic organizations. Her leadership extends to roles like Chairwoman of the ANC 1B04 Civic Association and National Trainer for FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), focusing on community safety, resilience, and women’s leadership in crisis management.
Karen’s advocacy for women includes her work with the DC Democratic Women’s Club (DCDWC), the Metropolitan Women’s Democratic Club (MWDC), and The International League of Muslim Women (TILMW). She amplifies women’s voices in politics, public safety, and social advocacy while promoting equity and inclusion. Through her organization, Power In Sisters ~ Sister Power ~ Sister, and AKA Muslimahs, she fosters global sisterhood and intercultural understanding.
