Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages
During the Global Women’s Peace Network USA Conference and Launch in the Northeast, Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages was one of four outstanding women leaders honored for their service to their communities.
Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages of NY’s 22nd district, was supported by her brother, Nassau County Legislator, Carrie Solages, as she received her award. As the first woman of Haitian descent to serve in the New York State Legislature, she determined to never let the word “no” stop her from her mission to help others.
A leading activist in childcare, Michaelle is the former Chair of the Assembly Subcommittee on Child Product Safety. Also a leading advocate of early learning education, Michaelle was chosen to serve as one of three New York State fellows at the 2014 National Conference of State Legislatures. Her appointment came as a direct result of her powerful stance on integrating Mathematics, Science, and Music into the Kindergarten to 3rd grade curriculum.
