President’s Corner: You've Made the Path Easier for the Woman Behind You

Written by: Kaeleigh Moffitt

As the year rushes by, filled with endless activities and plans, I can sometimes get completely overwhelmed by all the things that need to be done. In those moments, a familiar feeling creeps in—a sense of discontentment and frustration, wishing I could do more, feeling limited by time and stretched thin. It’s so easy to feel worn down and wonder, Will any of this truly make a difference? Will I really leave a brighter world for my children and grandchildren? I look down at my hands, at the scratches and scars collected along the way, and ask myself, Is it all worth it?

When I reach this place, I know I’m nearing a line—a line that threatens to disconnect me from the version of myself I aspire to be. I want to be a woman who is deep and grounded, one who loves and finds joy in each step of the journey. So today, I thought it would be healthy for us all to pause and recognize the path each of us is carving—quietly, and with so much heart—for the sake of others.

Mother Moon’s words echo in my mind, reminding me of the purpose behind each step:

“There is a narrow path deep in a forest, barely wide enough for one person to walk along. The one who creates that path sweats profusely, with hands getting scratched while cutting away branches. Thanks to that person, those who come after can walk along the path in comfort. We need to be deeply grateful for the hard work of that first person, and endeavor to make the path wider and more even.”

Most days, we’re so focused on the challenges ahead that we rarely pause to see the path we’ve already shaped. But if we stop for a moment and look back, we can see it—a trail, hard-won and marked by our efforts, stretching far behind us. Every hard-won moment, each branch we’ve cut back, every act of love, patience, and forgiveness has cleared a way that’s now visible. Only you can truly recognize how far you’ve come; no one else knows what it took to get here, no matter the distance. Yes, our hands may be scarred from the journey, but those marks tell a story—a story of resilience, love, and a vision that reaches beyond ourselves.

Whether we realize it or not, there are those who see the distance we’ve traveled and feel encouraged by it. We might not notice, but those women who come behind us feel it. And because of you, their path is made easier. With each step, the trail we’ve blazed together becomes a little wider, a little smoother, for those to come. That’s how it works, how change takes hold. This journey may not look like what we expected, but together, we’re leaving behind a trail—a legacy—that others will walk with ease, guided by the spirit of the breakthroughs we’ve fought to create.

So today, I just want to say I’m grateful for you. I’m grateful for the path you’re forging, for the way you’ve made it easier for the women who will come after you. I see you, and I’m thankful for you. Let’s keep going, knowing that every step matters and that we’re not alone on this path. Together, we’re creating something real, something lasting—one step at a time.
