Globe Bridge of Peace
Timothy Henning and his family have called Globe, Arizona, home for 14 years. During this time, Henning, a dedicated high school teacher at San Carlos High School, has grown to love and serve his community deeply. He harbors a profound passion for bringing healing and reconciliation to this significant part of American history.
Globe, Arizona, bears the marks of an old mining town and holds a special place in the hearts of Native Americans and early white settlers alike.
Henning's journey to organize the event began with a request to the Women’s Federation for World Peace Arizona chapter that they hold a Bridge of Peace Ceremony. He firmly believed in the ceremony's potential to foster reconciliation and healing in this historically rich region of the American West.
Moved by Henning's dedication and organizational skills, Mrs. Glenda Lambert, the Global Women’s Peace Network Coordinator in Arizona, along with Rhia Luz and WFWP President Kaeleigh Moffitt, collaborated to bring the Bridge of Peace (BOP) Ceremony to fruition in Globe, Arizona.
After two months of diligent preparation, the Bridge of Peace Ceremony took place on April 7, 2024, at the picturesque Seventh Day Baptist Church atop a hill in Globe, Arizona. The venue's lofty perch seemed to symbolize the ascent to a higher plane, setting the stage for the transformative event.
Before the ceremony commenced, Mrs. Glenda Lambert elucidated the significance of the Bridge of Peace Ceremony, laying the groundwork for Henning's heartfelt message on the role of the Women’s Federation for World Peace in peacebuilding, titled "From Model of Peace to Mother of Peace."
The ceremony witnessed the active participation of Pastor Hakes, his wife Dana, their congregation, students, and friends of Henning. Together, they served as performers and Bridge Crossers, promoting healing and peace. Accompanied by the soul-stirring strains of "Let There Be Peace on Earth," performed by 90-year-old music teacher Mr. Lauren Frost, the event left a profound impact on all in attendance.
Following the program, Henning treated participants to a sumptuous meal prepared by a local family friend, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and dialogue. Attendees expressed their appreciation for the program and the potential of the Bridge of Peace to facilitate reconciliation within families and communities.
Pastor Hakes extended his gratitude for hosting the event in his church, expressing a desire for future collaborations with the organization.
Special recognition was accorded to Miss Yasmine Lambert for her gracious volunteerism during event registration, as well as to Dr. Staffan Berg and Jane Berg for their contributions to the decoration of the Bridge of Peace Ceremony arch in the church.
Looking ahead, Henning and Lambert are planning a follow-up event involving a book discussion and study on achieving peace, furthering their commitment to fostering harmony and understanding within Globe, Arizona, and beyond.
