WOMEN’S RIVALRY VERSUS TEAMWORK
Glenda Lambert and I were invited by Naye Olvera, our radio talk show host contact and friend, to participate in an online radio talk show. We had met through networking with Elizabeth Inganamort, WFWP member and owner of the Falcon's Guard Center. In addition, Naye was our very first supporter and partner during our Purse Project for the homeless this year.
She invited us to be on her show covering the topic Women’s Rivalry on Labor Day September 5. It was a good thing that Glenda Lambert was available to come with me for the interview. Glenda shared with me that she feels that women’s rivalry is a very appropriate theme to discuss for this time. As she said, “This is the era of women where we will use our unique perspective, abilities, resources, energy, and experiences to stimulate a spirit of cooperation and the practice of true love.”
Even though I was very nervous; fortunately, together, Glenda and I had a great opportunity to represent WFWP’s views. We were able to speak about how in WFWP we work to create a team and honor each other’s talents and contributions, not feel jealous of other people's’ successes, but instead add our own talents and become a team. Then the success belongs to everyone, and all feel valuable. Working together creates a more beautiful result than working on our own without letting others in. It’s also much more rewarding and fosters inner peace.
One of the best things that resulted from being on the show is that Naye and her co-host Irma Deihl, who is a well-known talk show host on radio and a TV reporter in the Latino community; and their other guests, who were Beauty Queens, promised to come to our Bridge of Peace event on October 8th!
