YOUNG WOMEN TO THE FORE!
New and inspiring changes are emerging in Bridgeport, Connecticut. On August 31, the Connecticut Chapter of WFWP held a luncheon under the fresh leadership of the newly appointed Chairwoman, Mrs. Lena Yasutake. Mrs. Yasutake recently traveled to Korea to represent WFWP USA at the international Universal Peace Federation conference. She returned full of energy and ideas on how to make WFWP more relevant and powerful for young women and men.
Thirty-six women attended the luncheon, many of whom are current students at the University of Bridgeport. Sushi was catered for the event. Ms. Heather Harris, a recent graduate of UB and a recent hire of WFWP, gave welcoming remarks. Alexa Ward, former U.S. WFWP President, and local Chairwomen also welcomed new members and were able to elaborate on all the good and important work that WFWP has been able to accomplish in recent years. Mrs. Yasutake then gave recognition and thanks to several different accomplished WFWP members for their service throughout their lives.
After the luncheon, various tables were set up with computers for guests who wanted to sign up and become donating WFWP members. At the end of the afternoon approximately 30 new members had signed up! WFWP Connecticut looks forward to working with all the newest additions to the WFWP family, and also to seeing what changes Mrs. Yasutake can bring to this chapter. What a great start to the fall semester!
