HONORING CO-FOUNDER AND FATHER SUN MYUNG MOON, A MAN WHO KNEW THE TRUE VALUE OF WOMEN
In honor of the Co-founder of WFWP International, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, at the occasion of this 3rd year anniversary of his ascension (Sept. 2, 2015)
In my mind, June is the month of Fathers. It is the month where we honor Fathers and the Father’s love. As such, when we think of an organization, for example Women’s Federation for World Peace, the founders of this organization can be seen as its parents. They gave birth to the vision and the mission, and gave it its start.
The founders of WFWP, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, continuously encouraged women to grow in their understanding of who we are and who we can become, how we can stand proud beside our husbands and in our families, and how we can heal the wounds of our families and communities, nations, and even the world, mainly by embodying the substance of the mother’s heart.
Here are some of the late Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon’s words on the father’s perspective of everyday life in the family: “When you say goodbye to one another in the morning as you go to work, do so in joy, and when you meet again in the evening, do so in joy. When you return to your family, gather your family to talk about what happened that day, discuss it together and suggest ways to improve. You have to connect to the entire family through love and through laughter. The family becomes the children’s haven of rest when they can say, “Our dad is the best! Our mom is the best! We really like it when you two love each other!’ You have to become a couple who can build a family as the base of eternal joy and pride such that your children will not want to go anywhere else.”
In a speech on July 16, 2012, at the founding of the Global Women’s Peace Network, Rev. Dr. Moon said,
“Women are not here merely to help or to be protected by men; rather, they are independent individuals who, as representatives of the feminine aspect of God's nature, are meant to make men more complete and manly. Centering on true love, women are men's precious love partners. Men and women are absolutely equal in terms of value.
“Men and women, who unite through the true love inherent in the original ideal, share the same position. Also, they attain the right to be with each other wherever they may be. Furthermore, they attain the ideal right of inheritance, where all their property belongs to each equally.
“Thus, men and women, who are brought into oneness through the original love in God's ideal of true love, have been created to become completely equal beings, centered on true love, by sharing not only the same rank and the right of participation but also their possessions with one another.
“Therefore, men and women do not need to confront or contend with each other, because they do not need to imitate the characteristics, dispositions or roles of the other, or to covet those things and take them by force. Instead, by giving what they have to the other with true love and completing the other, they can become united as a greater whole and share in a relationship of joint ownership.
“In the twenty-first century, women should play a major role in world history by serving, together with men, as one of the wheels of the engine pulling forward the construction of a peaceful world. Going beyond a century of power and technology, women will be the central axis in building a century characterized by its loving, peaceful culture, and their role will be more important than ever before.
“I sincerely ask you to choose True Mother's path, the path of a true wife, the path of true daughter, and the path of a true woman leader who will build a unified world where freedom, peace, and happiness in its truest sense, overflow.”
Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and his wife Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the founders and parents of WFWP, have given women and men a chance to partner and together create a world of peace and harmony, service and charity, where all people relate humbly as brothers and sisters beyond gender, race, creed, culture, nationality, and religious affiliation.
The Father’s heart is so very necessary to partner with the Mother’s heart to restore dignity, honor, and respect back to the family, society, nation, and world. True peace can be realized and substantiated through the unselfish loving and giving of parents of true love.
