Re: “Built from Heart” Schools of Africa Fundraiser Extravaganza

My dear WFWP members, friends, and supporters,

I send God’s blessings and prayers for a successful event on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the beautiful IPEC center where patrons of all nations are sharing their hearts for the sake of others. Today, you are demonstrating a commitment to support the Schools of Africa (SOA) project, a signature program of the Women’s Federation for World Peace. A contribution from your distinguished guests is an extension of the ongoing leadership necessary to inspire and empower the schools that benefit from your kindness. During a recent retreat, I discussed the urgency for WFWP USA to promote fundraising efforts and consequently increase the donations available for school program development, construction, and scholarships. Well Las Vegas, give yourselves a loud round of applause for reaching hearts across the world!!!

I am so excited with all the speakers and activities planned for today’s event and envy those present who can partake in this historic experience. Over twenty years ago WFWP founder Mother Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon sent Japanese sisters, who volunteered and provided literacy and training and continue to do so, to Africa and other countries. Our ten schools, located in Senegal, Ethiopia, Liberia, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, and Rwanda, provide students with opportunities to become medical doctors, nurses, educators, contractors, computer technicians, cosmetologists, business leaders and more as a result of your charitable donations. Even more impressive is WFWP’s ability to continuously earn and maintain UN NGO status for years, which is not an easy task; our efforts are evaluated methodically.

I’m sure you welcomed and were entertained, enlightened and educated by speaker Judi Moreo with her personal experience in Africa. I pray you saw through her eyes the beauty of the land, people, and resources. Like any country, there are some areas where improvements are necessary. Each of us have a gift and we help others to find theirs, regardless of how hidden it may appear to be.

I have also had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Moriko Hori, president of WFWP Japan, on several occasions. She is a very compassionate leader who works as a conduit for our schools, Japanese administrators, and WFWP executives in New York City. Her presentation will inevitably include her testimony of WFWP USA support and donations over the years and a first-hand account of the progress that has been made as a result of contributions and hard work of chapters around the country.

WFWP USA is very proud of our recently distributed SOA pamphlet that details the different personalities of each school and shares student stories, fantastic renovations and construction efforts that include: computers, libraries, desks, sidewalks, sewing machines, food and school maintenance. These schools are often located in remote areas and poor communities. Please use the pamphlet for further fundraising!

Please be assured that you have and continue to show the heart of our founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the soul of President Angelika Selle, and the vision of Vice President Katarina Connery. I also work closely with Irmgard Baynes, our finance overseer, responsible for transfers and accountabilities.

The program for today looks fantastic: the music, dance, vendors, raffle prizes and so much more is exciting and I wish you great success for your fundraising efforts. Thank you again, my friends of selflessness, who exemplify much needed values in today’s global environment: peace, love, leadership and compassion for others. You are an inspiration to us as we strive to assist students, parents and all volunteers for the sake of love. Our goal is to strengthen relationships across lines of race, culture and religion in this world we call home and must share.

Please have a festive and successful event today, Las Vegas!!!

With sincere gratitude,

Minister Fannie M. Smith – WFWP Schools of Africa National Coordinator
