SPEAKING TO UNIVERSAL PEACE ACADEMY STUDENTS
For me this year 2014 started out with a very fresh, exciting, and hopeful experience. I was invited to present WFWP USA's vision, mission, and Vision 2020 on January 3rd to around 18 international students of the Universal Peace Academy (UPA) that is located near Seoul, Korea. The students, lead by Mr. Kim and chaperoned in the United States by Mr. Luke Higuchi, had come to the U.S. as part of their studies to learn more about America and the various organizations and aspects of the Unification Movement.
This special UPA training program is for college age students and was launched only last year by our Founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, with the intention to train and bring forth a new type of leadership that can bring substantial change and usher into a world of lasting peace.
It was such a pleasure and a joyful experience to share and interact with them about WFWP in America as they responded with such open hearts and much enthusiasm. They also asked excellent questions which indicated to me that they are indeed an exemplary crop of young men and women who have the potential to impact others in a positive way just by who they ARE! They displayed sincere respect toward me and my husband, Bob, who had accompanied me that night and who joined in the discussion, as now, more than ever, WFWP is inviting supporting gentlemen to work together with us.
After the presentation, the students spontaneously decided to sing a few songs for us to show their gratitude. In response Bob and I and two other elders responded in kind by singing a few songs for them, all ending up in a joyful expression of dance.
We felt such a deep bond of heart or Shimjung (which is the Korean word for the impulse to love), with each other in this short time. Finally, we encouraged them to keep up their commitment to the training and become leaders of hope for the future.
