PACK A PURSE/BOOK BAG EVENT AT SHEPHERD’S COVE HOMELESS SHELTER
Committee members got together to sort and stuff donated purses and book bags with various essentials for women and girl residents at the Prince George’s County, Maryland Shepherd’s Cove Homeless Shelter for Women in Capitol Heights, Maryland on Monday, April 25, 2016. After numbering a variety of sizes of purses/book bags and baby tote bags filled with toiletries and many other day-to-day items, over 100 giveaways were recorded. Every person received a WFWP brochure in each bag.
The official Maryland State WFWP Pack A Purse/Book Bag Drive program was held Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Maryland Shepherd’s Cove Homeless Shelter – 1:30 p.m. ~ 3:00 p.m.
The program agenda was set in motion with a warm welcome from the WFWP State of Maryland purse/book bag project chair and program Mistress of Ceremony, Dottie Chicquelo. Minister Chi, WFWP greeted guests. Elmizer Day, member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Prince George’s County, MD Chapter and Minister Chi were purse/book bag organizers and distributers for the day. Kim Dadachanji, WFWP gave an overview of WFWP (not in photo - Emiko Butler, WFWP). Emiko Butler and daughter Sasha, WFWP prepared delicious desserts and Brenda Miller provided the beverage. The fellowship was wonderful among those in attendance.
The event could have never been possible without the many people who opened up their hearts and donated purses, book bags and toiletries. Special kudos to all for special contributions to the drive and especially Delegate Barnes and the staff at Shepherd’s Cove. A warm, uplifting, and happy beginning was established while sharing our hearts with each other — all based on the logic of love.
