FAMILY FUN DAY ROCKS
April 22, 2017 was a sunny and beautiful day in Harlem, New York. It was the day that the New York chapter of WFWP and Life Line Healing Ministries worked together to present a Multicultural Family Fun Day for all those who wanted to join.
Families and individuals from the Metro New York Area, New Jersey, and even Washington D.C. enjoyed the day of fun and festivities. Rev. Juanita Pierre-Louis, National Vice President of WFWP, and co-founder of the Life Line Healing Ministries, hosted the affair that was held at the Harlem Family Church Center, in Historical Harlem, New York.
Rev. Juanita’s husband, Rev. Edner Pierre-Louis, welcomed everyone warmly and cited the purpose for the day was to have fun and enjoy the diversity among those present, but most of all to appreciate and understand each other’s’ culture.
There were live cultural performances from several countries. Jamaican Reggae was performed by songwriter and musician “Skinne John” and other artists from Jamaica. Guyana, Iran, America, South Africa, Mali, Poland, and Haiti were also represented. Food from America and the Caribbean was served and enjoyed by everyone present.
Mr. Giovanni Wade, from The Sharing University of Washington, D.C., showed participants how families can share their wealth and become economically stable.
Jude Pierre-Louis and Hyang-ga Moton gathered the children to do face-painting and art. Health and wellness specialists were on hand with products to keep our families healthy and thriving.
All who came asked that this become a continuous activity. The day concluded with a family rededication ceremony. This is a ceremony of the Family Federation for World Peace and is significant in family worship and a reminder of family responsibility. In this ceremony the family members pledge to each other that each member will take responsibility by living for the sake of each other, loving, caring, and faithfully serving each other and their community and society. They take a vow to complete the ceremony and toast with celebratory holy wine and holy juice.
Altogether, we ended with prayer and song before going back to our homes.
