COMMUNICATION: THE FINAL FRONTIER
What is Communication? How do we let someone know our needs and wants? With whom should we be focusing to communicate? We often do take our ability to talk for granted. Why do we have a voice anyway? I used to think that we all could just sense what others need, and respond accordingly! Yet, we live in a world that is dominated by verbal sounds. How do I belong to a society that is geared towards the spoken word? How should I proceed to teach someone how to talk, to communicate?
The ability to talk is just not a verb. It is an all-encompassing part of our lives. When one is not communicating, an easy task is extremely hard. I do not attach any blame to those who cannot communicate due to a disability. However, it is quite frustrating at times! What does he or she want?
In a family, communication is extremely essential to not only the maintenance of the family, but the health of that family. Emotionally, spiritually, physically, and in all aspects, communication makes it possible to co-exist with one another! What would happen if I stopped relating with a family member, and just did not talk to that person? What would happen if for no reason, I would stop talking to my family members? Please use your imagination to figure out the answer to that!
Not only in one's family is it important to have communication, but expand that to your neighborhood, your work place, your church, and so on. We all have differences of opinions, and there are certain personality types that do not relate well with each other. Yet, isn't the most important person in one's family the one that tries extra hard to communicate with everyone? There needs to be an emphasis on developing this level of concern for others!
I strongly believe that inside each one of us is the need for love and acceptance. We are all the same in that aspect. How we choose to communicate to others this love and acceptance, well, for me that is the final frontier.
