INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY CEREMONY
The Oregon Chapter of WFWP together with the Family Federation for World Peace and the American Clergy Leadership Conference hosted an Inter-Faith Prayers for Peace on September 21, 2013. The event was attended by a diverse group of faiths including Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Unificationist, Buddhist, and Devotees of Adi Da Samraj.
The Keynote address entitled "Peace Education," was given by Mrs. Nancy Spanovich, Development Officer of the Wholistic Peace Institute. Then each representative offered a prayer, a reading, or a meditation for peace while holding a cup of water.
The highlight was the "water unity ceremony." All the faith representatives poured their cups of water into one bowl, symbolizing the unity of all faiths. They then dipped a "peace branch" into the large bowl of peace water and sprinkled a blessing on all the attendees.
The spirit was truly lifted and God must have been smiling on the unity expressed in this event by so many different religious faiths coming together in prayer for peace beyond religion, beyond division and background united as one family under God.
