CELEBRATING MARRIAGE AND LIFE THROUGH THE BRIDGE OF PEACE
On August 31, 2013, the Philadelphia Chapter of WFWP celebrated the 21st anniversary of the 1992 Blessing of Marriage that was initiated by the founder of WFWP, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon. The event focused on the saying, "Behind every great man is a great woman," emphasizing that women guide their husbands and children on the path toward creating God-centered families.
Ms. Karen Bradley, pastor and teacher of the Evangelical church, spoke about knowledgeable, talented, and God-centered women. She said that success in history is made by women who, through their suffering, bring forth a righteous civilization.
The participants were warmly welcomed by Mrs. Jizly Dohou, Chairwoman of WFWP in Philadelphia. She showed a video highlighting WFWP's activities and its affiliation with the United Nations.
Mrs. Denneze Nelson, WFWP Regional Chairwoman, introduced the Global Women's Peace Network (GWPN), encouraging the audience to participate in this networking system that has the purpose of strengthening and empowering women leaders all over the world in spirit and in practice.
A Bridge of Peace ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Joy Lascari. Before the ceremony, she spoke deeply to the participants on how to prepare their hearts in humility, so that when they crossed the bridge, real reconciliation could bring a new beginning of heart for each one. She put an emphasis on how the participation of each family could contribute to revival within their communities.
International food was served for everyone's enjoyment. Entertainment included singing and dancing hosted by Mr. Ryan Hawskin, one of Philadelphia's most renowned DJs, as well as an entertaining song by Gospel singer Ms. Madelyn Wright.
As the coordinator of this event, I realized just how important it is to celebrate marriage of one man and one woman here in Pennsylvania. It is important that we educate ourselves and others about how to build committed marriages in order to strengthen our communities and our nation.
