HONORING OURSELVES: WOMEN’S CIRCLE
On June 28 at the acclaimed medical school of the University of Pennsylvania, the WFWP Pennsylvania chapter, held our monthly Women's Circle. The purpose of the Women's Circle is to provide a forum for enlightening discussions of life and spirituality. New members receive information, updates, and education on the work of WFWP around the world.
During this particular circle, we welcomed three new members, who received information packages and were introduced to the WFWP mission statement. Our objective is for women to understand the importance of spiritual vitality within their own lives and in the lives of others. We often start off the discussion by reading some words of wisdom from respected women authors like Margaret Young, Mary Jean Irion, Audre Lorde, Virginia Woolf, and especially the words from the founder of WFWP, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
The empowerment talk of this gathering was entitled "Honoring Ourselves." It encouraged women to discover themselves as leaders, starting from being a daughter, a sister, a student, a mother of a home, and on to the professional workforce, all the while setting a standard for others to respect and honor the dignity of womanhood.
One younger member, Ms. Eli Izumi, testified that by setting a high standard of moral values for herself she hopes to empower other young women in her life.
We have found that this monthly Women's Circle provides a warm environment for new and seasoned members to discuss ways of empowering and inspiring themselves and each other.
