YOUTH FOR HUMAN RIGHTS TOUR FINALE
One of our long time WFWP supporters and Ambassadors for Peace, Dr. Mary Shuttleworth, founded the Youth for Human Rights International Organization about 10 years ago. This celebration culminated her 9th world tour of YHRI which circled the globe for a total of 27,944 miles. During the tour Mary met with many of the countries’ government officials and dignitaries and presented the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights in schools.
The celebration was attended by about 150 close friends and supporters of YHRI which included former Congresswoman Diane Watson, numerous founders and chairmen/women of like-minded organizations, and several key members of YHRI from around the globe.
We enjoyed a light dinner, a Luau dance performance and congratulatory presentations. The current Miss Teen Asia USA, Meeghan Tirtasaputra, graced us with a lovely song. Most notable was a performance by the George Washington Magnet High School dance troupe who depicted the plight of women who are enslaved and trafficked for sex. This performance was more powerful than any speech I have heard on this issue. Dr. Shuttleworth was also presented with a mural as part of the Art Miles Mural Project.
