A "TURNING POINT" FOR THE NATION'S CAPITAL

The Women's Federation Washington, D.C. Chapter held an end-of-the-year celebration on December 8, 2012, at the Unification Church of Washington, D.C. The purpose was to extend the success of the Las Vegas "Turning Point" Assembly to the nation's capital, to inspire our guests by showing the 2012 WFWP USA accomplishments, and to honor those who have worked with us the last four years on the WFWP High School Essay Contest on Purity.

The coordinator for the event was Chapter Chairperson Eny Reed. There were 35 attendees, including local VIPs Dr. Marta Guzman, a multilingual education consultant and former principal of a D.C. high school; Dr. Patricia Ware, a former official on family issues in the administration of President George H.W. Bush; and Rev. Dr. Sinclair Grey, senior pastor at the Liberation Temple in Washington, D.C.

After an invocation was offered by Jane Karimi, WFWP national President Angelika Selle gave an inspiring PowerPoint presentation about WFWP national activities.

Three of the guests, all members of the judging committee for the WFWP High School Essay Contest on Purity, delivered heartfelt testimonies about why they became part of this project. Dr. Ware noted that what she found to be so special and unique about WFWP is the love, heart, and passion she has found in the organization. She has been invited to join many organizations, she said, but has refused most of them because she felt their motivation was not right. "I know many other organizations out there," she explained, "but believe me, this kind of love and passion is hard to find elsewhere."

Our WFWP national president then awarded the three with Certificates of Appreciation for their support of the High School Essay Contest on Purity for the last four years.

Finally, using the same banner from the October "Turning Point" conference in Las Vegas, Mrs. Selle proclaimed the "turning point" for WFWP here in Washington, D.C.
