PRESIDENT'S CORNER
Dear friend,
PEACE STARTS WITH ME has been the theme, talking point, and slogan that has inspired and motivated many of our women to action, especially in our Northeast Region during the last two months. Our co-founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, addressed over 20,000 people at the Nassau Coliseum on November 12, the Veteran's Day weekend, with her message of hope, reconciliation, and healing for America.
We thank all those who participated and contributed through their time, prayers, and donations, as it was a resounding success!
The day before the Coliseum event, 70-plus women and women leaders from around the country gathered at the Long Island Marriott in Hempstead, New York, just across the street from the Nassau stadium, where they experienced peace, love, joy, uplifting and motherly love in a very substantial way at the launch of the "Women as the Turning Point for Peace" Global Women's Peace Network (GWPN) Conference in the US Northeast Region. The high note continued the next morning as 130 participants and public officials gathered for WFWP's PEACE STARTS WITH ME Reception, sharing their thoughts on Peace and Veteran's Day, along with honoring four fabulous women who received WFWP's HerStory Award and told their unique stories of making an impact for the sake of peace in their areas of focus. This all served as a prelude to the great outpouring of spirit and hope at the adjacent Coliseum (see articles and comments of participants, which are still coming in).
We are also very pleased to congratulate our neighboring country, Canada, where the Global Women's Peace Network was launched for the first time about two weeks prior, on October 27. Women leaders, Parliamentarians, and other officials came together to address pressing social issues, which was reflected in the title of the event: "Women as Agents of Peace: Reconciliation and Alternative Dispute Resolution." The convocation's purpose was to address the process of reconciliation between the First Nations (Indians, Métis, and Inuit) and other Canadian citizens. A new partnership emerged, as the two national chapters -- the U.S. and Canada -- determined to collaborate from now on in a more substantial way.
Peace and healing is the one thread weaving through this double edition of the Logic of Love newsletter, which came out only once this month, as our editor in chief, Mrs. Anna Yasutake had to leave us at the end of October. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask you to please bear with us until we hire a new editor. Thanks for your understanding. We will keep you posted!
Wishing you peaceful moments while perusing this November issue!
Sincerely,
Angelika Selle
