PRESIDENT'S CORNER (AUGUST '16)
Dear Friend,
It's been a very hot summer along the East Coast, just as many "hot" issues are plaguing our nation.
During one of my recent trips, where I spoke at a WFWP Bridge of Peace event in Pennsylvania, several women speakers expressed their pain and frustration over what is going on with our country today. They admitted that their emotions were riled up and in turmoil, and they were in anguish over how to deal with this and, most of all, how to find a solution to the "division, the violence, the confusion, the anger."
The answer came from the very person who spoke these last words, from within her heart! She concluded: "There is still one thing I CAN do and WILL do: Love my family and love others."
Surely that is right in line with the motto of the Women's Federation for World Peace, to "Live by the Logic of Love!" This turns out to be the most powerful and influential approach and even leadership style in response to all that's going on, as more and more women realize that the solution to our ills must come from the heart rather than the head.
In this double issue, we feature several Bridge of Peace ceremonies, showing how simple gestures of love can heal major wounds -- those of the present and the past.
Peace does begin with you and me in the midst of chaos and hopelessness. Each of us can be like a lotus: though rooted in the mud, the flower flourishes and blooms gloriously on the pond's surface.
It takes each of us to make a conscious decision to think, feel, act, and finally to BE peace! Have a wonderful and peaceful end of the summer!
With love and hope,
Angelika
