PRESIDENT'S CORNER (JANUARY '16)
Dear Friends, Ladies, and Supporting Gentlemen,
A fresh new year is upon us, just like the white snow that blanketed a large part of the East Coast this month.
Looking back over our shoulder at 2015, we are grateful to see how much fruit has come of the many efforts and investments of our local chapters (see overview below). We are happy to say that most of our goals have been fulfilled based on last year's motto of "Growth: Uplift, Upgrade, Collaborate." As you can see in this issue of "Logic of Love News," last year ended with many acts of love, service, and appreciation, all of which are essential for peacemaking and positive change. We again also want to thank you, our supporters, for joining us in this vision and mission through your ongoing contributions!
The motto we chose for 2016 is "Compassionate, Sustainable Leadership." And what better way to begin this year than with the thoughts and wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose great life we commemorate in the first month of each year. About service he says,
"Everybody can be great, because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
On the same subject, Mother Teresa says,
"The fruit of silence is prayer. The fruit of prayer is faith. The fruit of faith is love. The fruit of love is service. The fruit of service is peace."
Thus, there is power in service and in "Living for the Sake of Others" (the life motto and lifestyle of our WFWP co-founders), as they naturally create a base for the sustainability of compassion, goodness, and so much more!
One more word on service, from Indian poet and philosopher Rabindranath Tagore:
"I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted, and behold, service was joy."
As we enter this New Year, we encourage and challenge ourselves and you to be a leader of peace through service. Anyone can do it. We just have to "DO IT!"
Have a happy and successful 2016!
With love,
Angelika
