Mrs. Carolyn Robinson

Mrs. Carolyn Robinson was awarded the HerStory Award by the Indiana Chapter of the Global Women's Peace Network on July 21, 2021, for continuously embodying in her life our organization's motto, "Living by the Logic of Love."

Mrs. Robinson is a multi-talented leader whose passion for helping others overcome barriers and accomplish their personal and professional goals has led her to spend her whole life in service to her community. For over 30 years, she has worked with individuals and families as Certified Life Coach, Motivational Speaker and Certified Addiction Counselor. Over the last 16 years, she has facilitated a codependency support group for women at Jubilee Christian Center in San Jose, Northern California. She has also been a Health and Education Instructor for over 16 years, teaching inmates at the Santa Clara County Correctional facility, also in Northern California, as part of a program run by the Milpitas Adult Education Center. She has had the satisfaction of seeing some of these former students of hers become productive citizens with their communities which is a testament to her dedication, determination and tenacity to improve lives.

In 2005, Mrs. Robinson founded and has been the CEO of Empowering You Now, a non-profit organization that offers affordable education and life coaching services in the San Francisco Bay Area through targeted and interactive workshops that help both individuals and couples recognize self-defeating beliefs and gain strategies to overcome them. Her husband of 45 years, Dave Robinson, who has always worked alongside her, is her faithful supporter and partner in her new endeavor, co-presenting at workshops. Together, they bring a wide variety of experiences, expertise, and wisdom to their presentations. Mrs. Robinson has also authored a book that is a compendium of her teachings, The Complete Toolkit for Personal and Professional Success.

Her never ending desire to add value to others’ lives has brought Mrs. Robinson to collaborate with Kingdom Family Resources (KFR) since 2016, working with families struggling with mental health needs. These are families where most often relationships have been breached. Mrs. Robinson works with KFR to guide the troubled members to wellbeing and helps them reconcile with one another, achieving healthy and safe relations. During the past year's challenging times due to COVID-19 restrictions, Mrs. Robinson’s collaboration with KFR extended to conducting free monthly counseling workshops online to provide effective tools to overcome the sometimes unbearable stress or deep sorrow for the loss of a relative caused by the pandemic. Her workshops, such as “Managing Stress During Uncertain Times”, “Tips for Helping You and Your Children Grieve the Losses Caused by COVID-19”, and others, have not only provided a safe oasis for participants in such difficult times, but also enriched them with awe-inspiring insights on how to live an empowered life. At the KFR’s Annual Therapeutic Camps, Mrs. Robinson’s interactive workshops on "Healthy Relationships and Boundaries", have helped families mend communication breakdown as they were “able to identify and develop more effective strategies that ... diffuse any disagreements,” as many participants testified.

Mrs. Robinson has also volunteered for the Prevention Bureau of the Division of Families and Children Services (DFCS) to conduct weekly virtual support groups to help individuals and families struggling with the shelter-in-place orders by providing the same vital resources to help reduce their distress. Moreover, recently, Mrs. Robinson has also obtained credentials in Anger Management and has conducted the first such class ever taught for the local Corrections Department. And, we look forward to hear of her next accomplishment!
