Dr. Ann Higgins

 
 

Dr. Ann Higgins was awarded the HerStory Award at the National HerStory Award Ceremony of the Global Women's Peace Network on March 26, 2022, for her exemplary service to bring peace, cultural understanding, and positive transformation through creative arts based on her journey of overcoming unimaginable challenges.

Dr. Ann Higgins is a Co- Pastor of Creative Christian Arts Ministries International. And President of the World Dance Council UNESCO-Nassau Bahamas Section. She is a Dancer, Choreographer, Author and Producer. She has been working in the area of the performing Arts for over fifty (50) years. She started dancing at the age of 15 while in high school. Her work experience started in 1975 in Freeport, Grand Bahama at the El Casino Kasbah where she has performed in over six major Broadway productions from 1975 – 1983 as Lead Dancer and Line Captain. 

On February 10th, 1985 the greatest event in Dr. Higgins life took place, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. As a result of her new Life in Christ, Ann began to turn her talents, gifts and abilities over to God. She then started a new career as a fitness Instructor and became very popular through her Television Program Exercising By Faith.

Dr. Higgins also started the first Christian dance school in 1987 and to this day over 2,000 leaders have graduated from her school and is now leading dance companies and schools around the world. 

Dr. Higgins along with her husband are founders of over seven (7) Cultural organizations including mentorship programs, dance companies, cultural institutes and networks. She is very influential in her community and has a great impact on the lives of many young men and women. Ann along with her husband Henry have established four (4) Community Centers in the Urban areas  where they  provided homework assistance, reading and other creative arts programs for the children. 36 years ago she pioneered Liturgical Dance in her country being the first to introduce such a form of Art. 

Dr. Higgins has traveled throughout the world teaching and training dancers in the area of the arts bringing a message of peace and hope. She has also danced in many stadiums and theatres, she has taken children to over 30 countries showcasing the culture of the Bahamas by way of cultural exchanges.

She has served as board member, advisor and regional coordinator for over (14) Organizations worldwide. She has received over 22 awards from 1997 to present for her work of excellence in the area of performing arts.

Dr. Higgins is a graduate of Friends International Christian University, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Dance, Masters Degree in Dance and a Doctorate in Ministry.

Dr. Higgins is the Author of two Books -I was Born to Dance and The Purpose of the Dance.

She is employed by the Government of the Bahamas in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She holds the position of Project Manager in the Office of the Spouse of the Prime Minister 

She has traveled throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, China, the USA and the Caribbean representing her country and Ministry. Dr. Higgins and her husband are Founders of Creative Christian Arts Ministries International and Directors of the Bahamas National Liturgical Dance School and Company. They are the proud parents of seven (7) children; five (5) boys and two (2) girls; fifteen grandchildren and five great grand-children 

Their goal is to continually bring peace in the hearts of all mankind through the Creative Arts. Using the discipline of the arts to develop children in the urban area and expose them to other cultures of the world through cultural exchanges
