On a bright Saturday morning, Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) Hawaiʻi Chapter was honored to attend the 2025 International Women’s Day Breakfast, graciously hosted by First Lady Jaime Kanani Green and Australian Consulate General Wilhelmina Van Beers at the historic Washington Place in Honolulu.
Representing WFWP-HI were Chairwoman Donna Shaver and former Chairwoman Marie-Françoise Mitchell, who joined over 120 women leaders from across sectors for a morning of connection, inspiration, and empowerment. The event featured a distinguished panel of speakers: Former Attorney General Margery Bronster, Hawaii Foodbank President Amy Miller, Mona Pasquil Rogers (Director of California Public Policy at Meta), and Kathy Raethel (former President of Adventist Health Castle). Each woman offered powerful insights into leadership, resilience, self-care, and the essential role of women in shaping communities.
Panelists shared candid reflections on overcoming adversity, managing stress, and the value of mentorship. Stories ranged from creating peaceful morning rituals—like gardening before the world awakens—to lessons in self-worth, intentional living, and being present amid the demands of professional and personal life. One speaker noted, “You can’t have it all, but you can prioritize what truly matters.”
The atmosphere was warm and empowering, filled with genuine connections and shared purpose. Attendees exchanged ideas, contact information, and encouragement as they envisioned the future of women’s leadership. Many emphasized the importance of nurturing young women through mentorship and community support.
In the words of WFWP founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, “Women are the central axis in the family, and therefore they have the power to bring peace to the world.” This message deeply resonated throughout the gathering, reminding all present of the transformative power of women’s leadership, love, and perseverance.
The event concluded with heartfelt acknowledgments of First Lady Green and Consul General Van Beers, whose vision and hospitality made the gathering possible. As the emcee encouraged all attendees, “Be great, do great things, and always be aloha.”
Reflections from WFWP-HI:
“We were surrounded by women who embody strength, compassion, and a commitment to uplifting others. It was a profound experience and a testament to the unshakable impact of empowered women working together for a better world.”
