CALL FOR PRAYER, HEALING, AND KINDNESS
Words are not enough to express what we feel in our hearts in the face of the tragedy and insanity that shocked us all once again last week!
Belatedly the Women's Federation for World Peace USA is joining in solidarity with thousands of faith leaders and millions of righteous people to express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh last week.
How to respond to such crimes of hate?
Rabbi Jeffrey Myers of the Tree of Life Synagogue expressed it so poignantly to the media: "Words of Hate must cease!" And, speaking of two of the victims of the attack, he said: "The Rosenthal brothers had not one ounce of hate in them. Something we terribly miss in today's society."
There is indeed no intellectual answer to stopping senseless killings like this, other than to point out that the only "reasonable" and logical way to overcome hate and division is through love and kindness. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: "Hate cannot be overcome by hate, but only through love."
Women's Federation for World Peace USA resonates fully with those sentiments, as also Co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon has been advocating and promoting in many of her speeches that "History is calling for compassion, love, service and sacrifice. Today's problems cannot be solved by the Logic of Power. They can only be solved by the Logic of Love." And that logic of love begins in each of our hearts.
Once again to all the families and the community of the Tree of Life Synagogue, our love and prayers for healing are with you, as we resolve to speak 10 words of kindness every day so that one day, there will be a "tipping point" for a better culture in our land.
Sincerely,
Angelika Selle
