DRESS FOR SUCCESS: WFWP TEXAS HELPS STUDENTS TO TAKE A STEP FORWARD
WFWP Dallas joined North Lake College to collect clothing for their “Dress for Success” project. Their project was inspired by Dress for Success Worldwide, which is an international not-for-profit organization that empowers women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
The North Lake College project was put together to assist students who are graduating and needing business attire for job interviews. It was organized by Ms. Rosailand Patterson, who is the Administrative Assistant at the college. I met Ms. Patterson while doing a WFWP friendship drive. When I heard of her project, I offered to help on behalf of WFWP.
We organized a clothing drive throughout the month of September and then selected the best that we’d been given. In the end, we had more than 40 nearly new, high-quality men’s suits and shirts, and over 30 women’s ensembles. We delivered the items to North Lake College on Friday, October 5th, 2018. The college had teamed up with local companies to organize interviews on the college campus from October 9th to the 10th. A special room on campus had been organized as a “store” where students could come and select outfits for interviews. WFWP Texas is proud and thankful to all of those who donated their nice clothing and made a difference in doing so. Thank you all!
