The CSW's 58th session opens Monday, March 10, and ends Friday, March 21. For the past 10 years, the WFWP UN Office has hosted a parallel event during the CSW session. This year, the parallel event will be on Tuesday, March 18, from 2:30-4:00 p.m., in the UN Church Center, Hardin Room, across the street from the UN Headquarters. The CSW 58 priority theme is "Challenges and achievements in the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals for women and girls." The theme for the WFWP event is "Stories of Women's Leadership: Achievements and Challenges toward achieving the post 2015 agenda goals." Everyone is invited to attend this parallel event. Attendance at this event does not require either a CSW pass or a UN grounds pass.

According to Mrs. Alexa Ward, deputy director of the WFWP UN Office, "WFWP is organizing a panel around this theme. At this time the panel includes Dr. Arceli Hernando, vice president of Bohol Island University, the Philippines; Dr. Lan Young Moon, president of WFWP International; and Mrs. Sachiko Kimura, project director and overseas volunteer for Zambia, WFWP Japan. The panel will include four speakers."

A special meeting is being organized for Wednesday, March 19 in the New York area specifically on the WFWP Schools of Africa Project. Mrs. Tsuboi and other Japanese volunteers who will be attending the CSW will give current information about the WFWP schools in Africa. Mrs. Fannie Smith, newly appointed WFWP USA liaison and head of the Schools of Africa Project in the U.S., are invited to attend as well as any WFWP members who have a strong interest in knowing more about the project. The details of this important meeting will be communicated as soon as they are available.
