WHY WOMEN NEED TO LEAD: A DINNER MEETING WITH FOUNDER'S SON
After a very busy summer, Las Vegas WFWP members could not wait to get together again. On September 3, 2013, thanks to the Anceneys, who opened up their home once again, 12 women and 7 men were treated to a deliciously prepared assortment of barbecued chicken, steak, and ribs, as well as salads, corn on the cob, fruit, and desserts galore. One long table was set up in the living room, making a homey environment for sisters and brothers who support WFWP activities to share with WFWP's founder's son and his wife, Kwonjin and Hwayun Moon.
To the delight and surprise of one member who had joined exactly one year earlier, after attending Father Moon's Ascension Ceremony in 2012, a special cake had been prepared to commemorate and celebrate her membership. She joyfully cut the cake together with a friend that she had brought to introduce to WFWP.
Casual conversation turned into discussion, and finally Mr. Kwonjin shared his heart with us. One notable thing he said was, "Women are powerful and a woman can be a better leader than a man. A woman leader knows how to embrace the world. Be an embracing leader. Don't control others." Furthermore he shared his desire for each of us to take ownership and not just to follow. We were all inspired by his passion and insight.
Everyone enjoyed each other's company, and it was evident that WFWP is not only for women. We were especially grateful to one of the men present who provided us with a rousing song to start the evening. We added a few new WFWP supporters that evening, and we experienced the reality that working with couples in our activities is essential for growth and development.
