LIBERATING THE SOUL OF AFRICA

February is Black History Month and is therefore a time to reflect on all the people who were affected during the dark period in history of African enslavement, so that we can bring peace to those souls and be sure that it never happens again. As a mother figure who yearns to bring together a global family that dwells within the love of God, this is on the forefront of our Founder Hak Ja Han Moon’s mind.

In 2017,  Hak Ja Han Moon visited the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History in Washington D.C. There she saw illustrations and read documents on the extreme conditions under which millions of African people were transported through the middle passage and into slavery.

Following this visit, on January 20, 2018, Hak Ja Han Moon went to Senegal, Africa, to visit the House of Slaves on Gorée Island, believed to be the largest slaving post in Africa between the 15th and 19th centuries. She went with the heart to uplift and liberate the souls who passed through. She stood and wept at the Door of No Return, where enslaved Africans were brought to the Americas against their will. She imagined and felt the hearts of the mothers of Africa whose children were ripped from their arms and their homes. She could also imagine the pain of the mothers of the Americas whose children were sold and beaten as they watched.

On Gorée Island, she prayed, “Christianity did not know your deep will or Jesus’ essence and they left a sorrowful history here in Africa and on Gorée Island. Where did Jesus’ words of ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’ go? How could they treat people in this way because of differences in skin color? Please remember the people of Africa who have endured and waited for more than five hundred sorrowful years.”

“I liberate the sorrowful spirits of Gorée Island… so that Africa can become an Africa that can realize the dream of one human family centered on Heavenly Parent (God) and become the light and lamp of the world. Let us cooperate enthusiastically to achieve a world of no more conflict, suffering, or war – one world of complete harmony and unification centered on Heavenly Parent (God).”

During her visit she also donated a Victoria Boat to the island, so that it may be used to provide urgent care for its people, bringing them quickly to the hospital on the mainland of Senegal.

We thank Mother Moon for exemplifying the love of God in heart, mind, and action, going the extra mile to heal the wounds that still affect us all today.
