“TOGETHER FOR PEACE: RESPECT, SAFETY AND DIGNITY FOR ALL”
The International Day of Peace is observed around the world each year on September 21st. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences, and to contribute to building a culture of peace.
This year's theme is "Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All" which will focus on engaging and mobilizing people throughout the world to show support for refugees and migrants.
There are just a little more than 30 days until September 21st, which means it’s time to check out the gatherings and events taking place near you. You can access the Peace Day event map here: http://internationaldayofpeace.org/event-map/
This is a great opportunity to network with community activists and women leaders, and to connect with United Nations initiatives in your own backyard!
Also, did you know that when a WFWP chapter hosts an event for the International Day of Peace, it helps us maintain our United Nations NGO in General Consultative Status? As the date approaches, check to see more WFWP hosted events listed on the event map!
