PRESIDENT'S CORNER JULY '17
Dear Friend,
How is your summer going so far? I hope many of you are spending time with family and friends, seeing new places, cooling off in the ocean, or spending time in the mountains; and just staying cool during the hot summer months.
With just two months notice and in spite of extreme heat factors in New York City, WFWP USA, along with our sister organizations, was quite busy preparing for a major event at Madison Square Garden to hear a timely spiritual message from our Founder, Dr. Hak Jan Han Moon. We were also delighted to host a pre-event for women and supporting gentlemen that same day in the morning featuring Former Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook as the guest speaker.
Here is a brief summary of events.
On July 15, Madison Square Garden truly became a "Garden of Peace", as Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, Co-Founder of Women's Federation for World Peace addressed an audience of over 20,000 people, and shared a message of hope, challenge, and peace. The hall became transformed into a place of interfaith worship through the nearly 3,000 voice choir, the presence of religions leaders of all faiths, the presence of thousands of young dancers and singers, all affirming the fact that humanity indeed is "One Family under God" who is the Creator of us all.
WFWP participants and VIPs were deeply touched by Mother Moon herself and felt compelled to "do something," or to do something more for the sake of making Peace a reality.
Undoubtedly the pre-event WFWP sponsored at the New Yorker Hotel that same morning with the dynamic guest speaker and former Ambassador Suzan Johnson Cook, had set the stage for this high spirited event at the Garden. Amb. Johnson Cook chose to speak on the same topic "Peace Within," from her own experience as a woman leader, mother, and Ambassador. Throughout the speech she gave the 120 some ladies and a few supporting gentlemen nuggets of wisdom and practical tools on how to achieve peace within, the pre-requisite for Peace in the World. The recording of her speech can be viewed here.
We are all determined to go forth with renewed hope, energy, and love. A big Thank You goes to all those who overcame all kinds of challenges and attended, for those who prayed or lent their name to the Host Committee, or contributed in any way. We will send out the digital program book with the names before the end of this month.
Most of all, participants who were at the Garden feel even more empowered and motivated to keep the momentum going, especially as women, mothers, and leaders, who have much work in front of us to "Be the Lights of the World' as Mother Moon encouraged us all to be.
Let us then create peace in ourselves and bring it into our daily lives, our relationships and into world affairs.
Have a wonderful rest of the summer!
Warmest Regards,
Angelika Selle
