Hatice Tosun

Hatice is a dedicated humanitarian whose life has been shaped by her deep passion for cultural understanding and helping those in need. Her journey began with eight years in Mongolia, where she endured harsh winters as cold as -50°C. Despite the extreme climate, she found warmth in the hospitality and resilience of the people she served.

After marrying, Hatice moved to Cameroon and later to Burkina Faso—the "land of honest people." There, she spent four years in +45°C (113°F) heat, working on educational initiatives, opening water wells, and supporting local communities.Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, Hatice and her husband—a devoted partner who shares her commitment to global peace and compassion—relocated there. For seven years, they provided hot meals, clean water, and shelter, supported orphanages, helped build a hospital, and opened a school to address Haiti’s urgent needs. During this time, they also welcomed their child into the world.

Now in New Jersey, Hatice continues her mission as an Interfaith and Social Events Coordinator at Peace Islands Institute. Alongside a dedicated team of women, she organizes Abrahamic table discussions, friendship gatherings, and Thanksgiving and Iftar dinners, fostering peace and unity across communities.

Together, Hatice and her husband are raising their child with the values they hold dear—peace, acceptance, and mutual understanding—encouraging them to respect and appreciate all people, regardless of background or beliefs.Hatice’s inspiring journey reflects her unwavering dedication to building bridges, uplifting others, and promoting compassion worldwide.
