Celebrating 30 Years Working for World Peace

Wishing all of you a very happy 30th Anniversary of the Women's Federation for World Peace!! It's been 30 years of working together with you to empower and equip women to discover their innate feminine value as leaders of the heart and realize an environment for lasting peace in their families and communities. Whether you have been involved recently or since the founding on April 10, 1992, you have helped make a difference in building a culture of heart here in the United States and beyond—as members, supporters, friends, volunteers, contributors, and more. We are grateful to each of you!

This year also marks the 10th Anniversary of the Global Women's Peace Network, a project of WFWP, and the 25th Anniversary of WFWP's General Consultative Status at the United Nations. Please join us in remembering and celebrating how far we have come!

We want to give a special thank you to all of our WFWP PeaceBuilder members who have also been substantially supporting WFWP's work, helping us to sparkle and shine brighter every year, reaching more and more women with the message of living by the logic of love.

Our Founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, The Mother of Peace, said, "The central role of women is all the more vital if the unfolding century is to be characterized not by power and technology, but by culture and by love. We must all push ahead in the conviction that no matter how wounded and scarred this world becomes, it can be healed and cleansed by the substantial work of a women's federation united in the vision of God's true love."

Here's to the next 30 years of impact and making a substantial shift toward peace!

In honor of WFWP’s 30th Anniversary; members throughout the world wrote “WFWP and Me Story” submissions that will be published in the 30th anniversary booklet that can be purchased here. Below are quotes and excerpts from some of those stories.

From the women of WFWP USA, Canada, and beyond, I have been connected to a true sisterhood, women who will cheer you on and support you through thick and thin.

The Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) is unique in its ability to cross the divides that have historically separated us. I feel that women, as the feminine expression of the Divine, have a special role to play in reconciliation and WFWP offers an important conduit for this work.
-Heather Thalheimer

My most joyful and deepest experiences in working with WFWP over this period have been the relationships of heart and love I shared with our precious chairwomen and regional coordinators, and also the President of WFWP Canada, Mrs. Lily Tadin. …We have nothing but gratitude and hope, looking into the next 30 years of WFWP’s development together with Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the Mother of Peace, and with the next generation in the lead!

-Angelika Selle

What are sisters like? This was the main question when I became a member of the Women’s Federations for World Peace New York Metro chapter over 12 years ago. From outings, small groups, visits to each other, attending workshops together to supporting each other every step of the way. I found the true meaning of “sisterhood” and a sense of belonging in WFWP.
-Remi Alapo

My proudest moment was when Emma Reed from the Los Angeles Chapter of WFWP said I could share my knowledge of the how and why Domestic Violence exists…Thank you WFWP for the opportunity to share my knowledge with the members and friends of this great organization.
-Luvenia Cone

The Bridge of Peace event is the landmark signature work, inspired by the founding WFWP  event in Korea… One  of my guests approached and thanked me for her match and burst into tears. As she had  embraced her sister on the bridge, a Muslim lady, she felt a great release of sadness and then  joy. This lady explained to me she was a “Bahai”, a religion that had experienced great  persecution in it’s early days in Muslim Iran. I get chills sometimes just thinking of the magic of forgiveness.
-Patricia Couweleers

I believe that WFWP’s founders, Dr. Hak Ja Han and Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, deserve great credit. Thirty years ago, they spoke about empowering women to work together—creatively and unselfishly—for the sake of peace. They encouraged us to utilize our unique qualities of femininity as friends, sisters, wives, mothers and in all our roles. Their inspiration has created incredible opportunities for people like me….I represented WFWP in Israel at two Middle East Peace Initiatives (MEPI) where we participated in a march for peace through the Old City of Jerusalem with people from various faiths. We visited the homes of Jews, Christians and Muslims and learned directly about their experiences and dreams. My sincere hope is that our diverse group gave the struggling people in that region some vision for overcoming conflict in the future.
-Laura Hornbeck

In 2017, at our WFWP 25th Anniversary, I had some personal moments with some WFWP Chairwomen and Members, when we met with WFWP International President Yeon Ah Moon, and President Selle. Then we had our 25th Anniversary celebration with joyful dancing there in NYC. It was so awesome.
-Lorna Galvan

My realization on these things that happened to me in the span of three years is this, when you embrace a Heavenly task, when you work to realize God’s Dream...like working for Women’s Federation for World Peace. God will bless you and your dreams and plans in the process as well!
